Fossilised Ferns keyhole scarf pattern: £3.25 (plus EU VAT where applicable at your local rate)
Fossilised Ferns keyhole scarf is a shorter-length scarf that can be worn wrapped around the neck or tucked through its own keyhole to keep it closed. Perfect for those autumn days when there’s a little nip in the air, or for spring when the chill of winter is starting to thaw. The scarf measures approx. 42” long by 7.5” wide when made to pattern tension of 28.5sts and 31 rows to 4”, although exact tension is not important.
The texture is made using knits and purls and twisted stitches. You may wish to use a cable needle, but the twisted stitches are easy to work without one. Instructions are given for working the scarf with or without the keyhole. To keep the end borders the same, the scarf is worked in two pieces and grafted together. However, the instructions also include a no-graft version if you don’t mind the ends not being identical.
You will need: 350-400 yards of fingering weight/ 4-ply weight yarn
: 3.25mm (US 3) knitting needles
: stitch holder
: darning needle
: cable needle (optional)
Knit the scarf from one skein of sock yarn, or use a large skein (150g or so) and make the matching Fossilised Ferns mitts as well, available alone or in an eBook.
Purchasing the eBook represents a saving over buying the patterns separately. No refunds will be made if you buy an individual pattern and then wish to buy the eBook afterwards.
